University Business Systems Services (UBSS) is responsible for the creation and maintenance of user access to Harvard's PeopleSoft (PS) Human Resources Management System (HRMS) through the timely and accurate processing of user security requests. We provide a high level of customer service and assist University departments with the interpretation and implementation of University system access policies and procedures.
UBSS services:
- UBSS provides application access through the maintenance of user security profiles and related configuration data including HR departments, locations, time & labor groups, as well as the HR department security tree.
- In collaboration with Risk Management and Audit Services (RMAS) and the user community, UBSS establishes, interprets, and enforces policies and procedures for end user access to Harvard's HR applications.
- UBSS offers consulting and support to all tubs on the creation and definition of user accounts, roles, and security rules that best suit their transactional and reporting needs.
- Questions on Harvard's User Security? All end-user questions regarding PeopleSoft Security should be directed to the HR Authorized Requestor for their tub.

Employees access the PeopleSoft Human Resources Management System via Harvard's PIN (personal ID number) Authentication application. For more information on PIN, or to request a PIN, please see the PIN website.
All employees, upon hire, are automatically assigned PeopleSoft Self Service granting them access to their own personal and payroll information. Employees who need to report their time and/or absences are also automatically assigned Time reporting and/or Absence reporting access. |
